??? New Motherboard

I am looking for a motherboard to replace my e-machine's ECS L7VMM2. It is a micro-atx with support for 3x pci and 1xagp (4x), i am looking for one with 8x agp support, 266 fsb. If i can find one i would like to have support for the 2 fire wire plugs in the front of my case.

finding a new mobo is real hard. do you have a budget? i have a shuttle board, and i'm pleased with it. the new an35n uses the nforce chipset, witch is nice. shuttles are priced just right, however i dont think they have firewire, you can buy firewire support though.

I am not on a very tight budget, but i can't buy a mobo that will require a new case. Motherboards are new to me there are so many manufacturers out there, i know video, sound and hd manufacturers but with mobo's i am lost

e machines

Are low budget systems & everything is highly proprietary, be very hard to work around any componants, the worst item is generally the power supply (under powered +small). It would be better if you bought cheap clone based componants & keep the one you have as a second system.

It can be done for less than $500, for everything you need under the hood, including the case & still have a power system.

Abit 1C7 series or Asus, It's doubtful any motherboard will fit other than what's in there already, really.

Dont buy a MSI 865pe neo2 I got 1 and a p4 2.6 800mhz chip
both componants worked seperately but not together.

The company I got them off told me to piss off, im only going to stick to the main 3 makers now.

ASUS, Abit and Gigabyte.

MSI

Like a lot of Mobo's, need a particular {Fussy} setup arrangement. First on all mobo's these days will be a flash to the latest BIOS & that was a particular problem with MSI, also the temps were not any where near accurate + Poor cooling on the chipset (Much the same with the Albatron 845 I bought). The page is out of date now as I'm running @ 4.13g. ~Had to add a decent chipset cooler myself.

Albatron

Most important these days is DDR compatibility, for the mobo one decides to buy! That's in addition to the DDR.
