nforce audio problem with NRS 2003

Hello. I have an Soltek SL-75FRN2-L, barton XP 2500, radeon 9600Pro, & WinXP Pro SP1. The radeon is slightly O/C. The problem is that in Nascar Racing Season 2003, the engine sound is a nice V-8 burble until about 2500 rpm (or about 30MPH). Then all base comes out of the sound until at 7800 rpm it's sounds like somewhat distant angry bees being routed through a pringles can (this tinny tunnel sound). I tried lowereing the hardware acceleration for sound in the control panel, messing wtih the sound settings in the game itself, & finally, installing the remix nForce drivers from Mwarhead all to no avail. The hard (but unwanted fix) is to put my Audigy board back in (but of course that brings all the baggage/problems of Creative). So if any one has any suggestions, I would be most appreciative. TIA!

Have you updated the game itself?

creative is good update your drivers...much better than th onboard

and turn off all serial ports ... anything you dont use like usb or lpt port... ans well as your onboard sound in bios.
