I've only had to update my Nforce drivers once before- What's the best way?
Uninstall all the drivers and use DH DC2 or update each one in hardware CP? Do you even have to uninstall the previous set? That's what I've been doing, uninstalling the complete set, using DC2 in safe mode, then reinstalling entire set.

I sometimes get lazy and just reinstall over the current install.... depend on what i'm installing but you should @ least uninstall beforce instaling new drivers less likely hood of running into issues becouse of junk left by the old set...

I took the chance and installed them on my 3 nf2 systems.
The install went fine on an 8RDA+ and an MSI K7N2. I had to go back to the 2.45's on an 8RDA (non plus) because it wouldn't boot fully into windows xp and would hang on the splash screen. It would boot into safe mode however so I was able to save the system without an OS reinstall. 2 out of 3 ain't bad huh?

the memory controller will not install.What's the deal? Never had this problem before. In the hardware device manager under PCI devices/ memory controllers, there are about 4 memory controllers and they are all listed as standard PCI standard memory controllers. When I try to update the driver manually and lead it the - C:/NVIDIA/win2kxp/3.13/Memctl/ - it starts to install and then stops, saying there was an unexpected error, and that access is denied. ??? --why? I uninstalled the old drivers, went to safe mode, used DH drivercleaner2, then restarted into normal mode - then resterted, and installed the nforce drivers.. I don't see why this won't work.. Confused.

Could someone with these Nforce drivers installed at least look in their hardware manager and see if it says "PCI standard mem. controller" or if it says "Nvidia etc... etc... memory controller"? When I try to install it manually from the C:/Nvidia directory, I get this error..............

@BWX32:
I don't have that problem, my drivers installed properly. But I didn't uninstall anything prior to installing the 3.13 so that may be the problem...I just ran the installer and rebooted, nothing else. What you describe sounds like a similar problem with DriverCleaner; if you use it to uninstall NVIDIA graphics drivers without rebooting in safemode you can't reinstall your grahics card and get a similar error. So I'd guess DC is the key, even if you used safemode. I'd check if there is any solution to this in the DriverCleaner-forum, the only one known back when I had that problem was using a restore point (I have system restore deactivated) or reinstalling windows (what I did)...nothing else worked. -BlueSteel (BTW I have another problem with the drivers, I got 2 BSODs yesterday while playing Bink movies; may be related to the NVIDIA IDE driver. Normally my system is 100% Prime95-stable...investigating.) |

Very frustrating, but I got it to work. I don;t think it was a DHDC2.5 problem because I did the same exact thing again and it worked. I Imagine if I did the same thing you did and just installed it over top of the old driver it would have worked too. But I got into the habit of using DHDC2.5 so I just used it..
The only thing I can think of that made that problem happen in the first place is the fact that I had the memory running in dual mode while uninstalling and reinstalling. For the second time around, I took out the second stick and tried to do the whole process in regular mode and it worked. It could be a coincidence, or maybe that's the reason. I'm going to shutdown and install the second ram stick and see if it works. If it doesn't I guess it's back to the older drivers. I need to run dual mode, I get an extra 250mb/s with it enabled.

I was hoping for a lot more trials on these driver's
Is there anyone else on here using these driver's?? And are you having any BSOD's or any other kinds of problems? Also post if you ARE NOT having any problems with these driver's.Thanks!!

I had to uninstall the IDE drivers- it was messing up my entire system, I left then on there for a few days, but I was having huge slowdowns when trying to access the cdrom drive- also IDE performance for me in general was very bad. Went back to default drivers and all is fine..
I've been having some internet connectivity problems too- not sure if the driver for on board-Ethernet is to blame or not, but it started when I installed these drivers.. My ISP said my Ethernet card was not releasing the IP- I dunno- Adelphia all are a bunch of morons- can't believe them anyway. So far AGP seems ok.
