cant shut down.
I've just installed my new motherboard and got windows up and running. Only problem is that when I come to shut the machine down, windows shuts down but the PC stays on. the monitor powers off but the fans for CPU. case, PSU + UV lights all stay on.
I noticed that I don't have the option to put my pc into standby - the button is greyed out. I have checked the BIOS and turned everything on/off to no avail. BIOS and chipset drivers etc all at the latest versions. |

i were going to suggest upgrade your mobo bios.that is what sorted mine out. have you tried re-flashing the bios to see if that helps. sorry can't help further. |

I'll give that a try now. otherwise this board will be going back to the shop as well. the BIOS in this definately has some issues. I'm sure the power management features aren't finding their way into the operating system. And earlier tonight, XP decided it had found some new hardware - a PCI modem. Neat that, saying as I sold my PCI modem about a year ago.

Got it sorted. Windows doesn't recognise the mainboard as an ACPI compliant BIOS and therefore installs as an MPS Uniprocessor computer. I had to rebuild again and force XP to install as ACPI computer. All is well now.
