Default Post MSN DSL On Multi Computers ?????

I need some help guys , i have been a detecated cable user for a couple years now , i had DSL when it frist came out. And there was no problums with ICS then , but now they only let you have one computer on dsl. See im moving soon , and it looks like im going to have to go back to DSL . So does any one know how to share the conection with dsl , or is it the same as my cable modem , just plug it into port 4 on my 10/100 hub and the rest of the computers in port 1,2,3

AFAIK you have to enable Internet Connection Sharing on the PC attached to the DSL line.

nope. i had 2 pc's sharing my dsl connection with no problem. Just set up pc's to obtain address automatically and configure modem to stay hooked up with ISP. Then just punch through modem to net. The only thing you'll have to change is modem (to dsl duh!) and the connect configuration in the modem.

Default Post One way

do you have to launch a dialer program to get to the internet?
If so it's probably PPPoE, Point to Point Protocol over Ethernet. You need to get a router that supports PPPoE then set it up to connect for you, it will stay connected permanently and you will have internet straight thru with no dialing or waiting!
So get a PPPoE router and hook it up to your hub, then go nuts!

Yeah i finaly got DSL and the modem has a built in router so it was pretty easy to setup. Had a few problems at first being able to play online games then i figured out that you have to enable DMZ hosting and port forward the ports that the game is using. no probs now but still can't seem to get my game server to punch through my firewall. No fun hosting a server that only you can see and play on. i miss my cable connection 512k up and 3mb down of pure internet bliss.

yeah i was expeacting to get DSL right away but the first place i moved too it was unavable, then i just moved again 6 months ago and now my new place just got it in Dec. And i was just going through all my post and following up on them and i saw this one. i really don't like my DSL that much 256k up and 640k down getting avg 100 ping on most servers but it's better than Dail-up any day. hopefully Cable will be hitting this small hick town soon

you are complaining about those speeds? You do not live in a hick town. Where I live is a hick town. No cable tv EVER. No DSL, probably never due to the fact that the closest CO is over 50,000 feet away. Nothing but trees. I could get satellite.
