Beepcode 'high/low/high/low' on NF7-S

I was working on something with my pc running ( i know i shouldnt have) and i was only a few feet away from my case and it shutdown. It gave me the high/low beepcode until i unplugged it. I've tested the psu, and taked on the heatsink and reseated it. Whats wrong with my computer?

oooooooooooo.....I had that once..... I cant quite remember what it was though. I think it was the temp warning when the temp got too high. Change the warning temp in the bios and it will stop, I had mine set waaay too low.

Hmm, you probably have a dead board, time to get a new (better) one.

Get a DFI lanparty B, its much better than the NF7-S and easily the best AXP board out right now.

It does absolutely nothing, no fans spinning for a second or anything?

.

The fans connected to the power supply directly will spin, but if i hook up a fan say to the motherboard nothing happens.

bout time you've posted here....

Fellas, this being related to the other thread i post about starting a PSU on it's own....

We've gone as far as pulling absalutely everything... including the ram.... (and i sure the video card).... with the same result..... now according to the beep code and accross multiple websites....

This is either CPU/Mobo related.... and he's gone as far as too pull the cpu right off.. take a good look at it.. and it doesn't appear to be bad

He has no spare parts to test.... nothing to go with....

I guess the only question would be....

IS there any possible way to test the mobo/cpu for sure... or even the mobo without the cpu?

Damn Award... and there lack of beeps....

As far as I'm aware of, no, not without special (and proprietary) hardware...
Only thing I know of to try is to find any board (known good) that supports his CPU. Knowing the PSU is good, the risk of frying anything is minimal.

Does this motherboard have a fan on the heatsink next to the CPU? My brother-in-law recently sent over one of his AMD boards for me to check out and the problem was that this little fan had gone bad. Just a thought.

Ya...up i was just seeing if a heatsink would fit on a mosfet (while running) and then after i was about of the case and a foot or 2 away it shut off and gave me the beep code.

Eeww, double ouch...

A Mosfet on the main board? If so, some of the feed components to that Mosfet (resistors and inline capacitors, maybe a coil) may be bad too, in addition to the Mosfet. I would not hesitate to call the mainboard bad if the Mosfet was on the board - I'd have to try that first thing. If it was regulation for the CPU or memory (likely impossible to tell without a schematic - can you imagine the size that would be to be able to read it, but the busses would be represented by one line only, anyway...) the failure could have caused damage to those too.

That's rough, mainboard first, pray, try CPU and memory...

Um........dude.......most likely you fried it. You most likely arced something and fried the board. I just hope you didn't fry the CPU and memory along with it. Mosfets are touchy and special care has to be given to them. ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR SYSTEM FROM THE OUTLET BEFORE OPENING THE CASE OR TOUCHING ANYTHING.

Sorry about the caps....but I wanted it to make an impression on you!!

The system he brought over was a SIS730S chipset ..... and probably windows XP HOME.... preconfigured..... (and messed up)...... i figured after shoving the cpu in the 2500+ barton and booting at 100fsbx11 for a grand total of 1100mhz.... that the cpu was fine.... getting into windows was a different story... safe mode would freeze one a specific file..... i didn't think it had anything to do with underclocking... i've had my barton run 512mhz no problem.... ( and i know.. that number is a bit odd)

Yeah, agreed, a CPU showed up and didn't smoke... The Windows stuff probably doesn't matter - too many variables...

Was his questionable memory checked in that board too?

BTW, feeling better today Judas?
