On my creative card I have 5.1 surround sound speakers in my options. I believe 6 is just surround sound.

You're color blind, it's in the wrong hole! j/k

You would think an nforce would support 5.1.

Choosing the 6 speaker set-up is 5.1 surround. To get mine working properly I had to switch the black and the orange plugs. You'd think they would have worked it out on the rev 2 boards. Still it's better than my asus a7n8x dx rev 1.4 where I had to plug the center/sub into the mic jack and enable it with nvswap.
If you still have problems after switching the plugs give nvswap a whirl.

I'd get a Herc FortIII, you get to leave all the plugs where they are, and still have room for a separate headphone jack (never have to take it out unless you are using 7.1 speakers). I use 5.1 speakers, a mic, and headphones, all plugged in the back of the card at the same time. I switch between 5.1/headphones in the control panel.. Something to think about if bugs you to mess around with the wires all the time.. Plus it's really cheap.
