Sad Disaster: Help?

Ive spilt water onto my motherboard whilst topping up the water cooling.

one of the clips on the cpu block had somehow come loose and a small amount of water leaked out onto the graphics card.

I have managed to blow most of it out of the agp and pci slots with compressed air and then soaked it up with tissue paper. I'm now drying the board off above a radiator.

Is there anything else I need to consider before powering the system back up.

Oh and the comp was switched off when this happened.

EDIT: Its all back together now with no visisble traces of water showing. I have used nearly a full can of air on the board so I think I'm ok. It seems to run fine apart from the power button which seems to be working intermitantly. I'll leave it for a day or so before giving it a real workout.

I also nearly killed the cpu by dropping it and bending about 10 pins. It took me an hour just to get them all straightened again.

Sounds like a rough day. The water should evaporate sooner or later I suppose, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Yeah, just let it sit overnight before you turn it back on. Also you got lucky with the cpu, I wasted a 3400+ not long ago by doing the same thing lol. Be carefull

Heh, I actually spilled a glass of water into one of my old keytronic keyboards once, and managed to save it, by yanking it out of the comp as fast as I could, and letting it dry.

Holy Jebus

You're a lucky guy! How you guys drop such an "expensive" piece of hardware? I guess it's AMD so they're cheap and replaceable right? Haha~ J/K I never carry a CPU. As soon as I remove it I set it down somewhere (usually in it's original box with the holder). Bending pins on a P4 ain't cool

On another note, I carried a P4 CPU in breast pocket of my jacket in an AMD CPU plastic holder for an entire day and not a thing happened to it.

Should of mentioned that its all working fine.

No_Style, I dropped the cpu as I was removing it from the ZIF socket - it was only about 3-4cm above the work surface when it slipped.
