New MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum board and Athlon 64 3000+ processor.
Hiya guys, so I got my MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum board and my processor the other day. Hooked it all up..everything seemed to be working fine when I noticed that it said that it was a 3000+ processor but it was only running @ 1.81ghz is this correct? (seems like a rather low number heh) also for the dual channel memory to work does it have to be in slot 1/2 or 3/4, 1/3, etc.. (Book says to use the green slots first so thats why I ask heh) Here's some info below for my processor, Ive also downloaded and updated the bios via "MSI Live Monitor".
Name : AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3000+ Description: x86 Family 15 Model 31 Stepping 0 Manufacturer : AuthenticAMD Version : Model 15, Stepping 0 DataWidth : 32 Bits Socket Designation : Socket 939 Type : Central Processor CPU Id : 078BFBFF00010FF0 CPU Family : Unknown CPU Stepping : 0 Load Percentage : 5 % Max ClockSpeed : 1808 MHz Current ClockSpeed : 1808 MHz Voltage : 1.4 V External Clock : 200 MHz Upgrade Method : undefined L2 Cache Size : 512 Kb Display Availability : Running/Full Power PowerManagement Supported : false Status : OK Also the memory is clocked at 200mhz right now, the type that Iam using (which I plan to upgrade shortly) is: Samsung 512MB PC/3200 400Mhz DDR RAM |

Yup, the 939 3000+ runs at 1800mhz...and to run the RAM in DC you have to put it in slots 1&2 or 3&4.....It's pretty confusing with the colorcoding MSI uses, green+purple=DC

Could you give us a list of your system specs. As you see by my, and Asmoday's sig's we run the same board as you. BTW, ram should be in slots 1/2 for the best results.

I got a few reccomendatons fr your upgrade wheneer you do it. Upgrade soudn card if you want to (prolly not), repalce the 9700pro (i gotta get aroudn 2 ditchig my softmodding/ocd 9500np as well) with an x800 pro VIVO or 6800gt, get a new gig of ram preferably Gskill LE kit (rated for ddr550 @ 2.5-3-3-7, but most LE kits reach a lot higher at those timings) so you get some nice 9x300 (2.7ghz) action with ur winnie.

I'll tell you right now I seriously doubt you'll be able to run 4 512 sticks in that thing. If so you really may want to check out the FAQ at MSI's forum. I haven't heard of anyone really have any luck running 2Gig unless it's like 2 x 1 Gig sticks.
