wireless broadband problems aRGH!!

dont think many of you use this stuff but decided to try my luck anyway..
my connection is wireless 1.5mbit broadband connection and its getting me a hell lots of problems...the connection isnt all that stable firstly, it reconnects by itself quite often (random)...and another thing is i cant host games in online games eg. warcraft..i can create games but people cant join..it says something like "unable to connect to server and there is no open ports blah blah blah"
anyone know why? anyone has any problems with wireless networking before?
Ps: i'm using a wireless USB adapter by EXCEL..if ye know what that is..>.<

Sorry are you have problems with satellite broadband? or a wireless network at home?

Firstly if it's wireless network i.e. a wireless-G router, then make sure your's on XP SP2 the wireless setup has been improved a lot. If it's dropping connection make sure you don't have the receiver to close to power transformers, your monitor or wireless mouse transmitters.

If it's something else, then I don't know

I think he has a Wireless ISP, like me. (Basically you connect using a WiFi adapter, to a hotspot controlled by the ISP.)

If so, you can try re-positioning your antenna to try to fix the disconnects. Also don't be afraid to contact the ISP and tell them you're having problems. You could try buying an add-on antenna for better reception (but I wouldn't think it should be necessary, the ISP should make sure the signal you're receiving is strong enough.)

As for hosting games, it is likely that you simply can't. For example, my WISP gives me a private IP (10.0.143.250), meaning I'm connected to their access point which assigns me this private address. The external IP you use is the IP of the ISP's equipment. This is a lot like having a router at home, you would need to forward the ports to your computer to be able to host a server. But, since you can't get into you ISP's router to do that, you're pretty much out of luck.

hmm..somehow you're very right bout that...sigh..so i cant host games...is there another way to fix it? dont think i can change to the conventional broadband, it costs too much to redo everything..
Craig and PJ, phones and wireless mouse and keyboard can actually affect the reception of signals? =.= i have like 2 phones next to my wireless adapter....

Yes they can, if they are 2.4GHz phones. I don't think 900MHz phones cause a problem.
As for hosting, it's out of your hands, I'd say.

2.4GHz cordless phones can affect wireless reception. Cell phones affect my mx1000 mouse, but have never affected my wi-fi, although my wi-fi does affect my cell phone's sound quality
