How can I set up a dual lan on an Asus A7N8X Deluxe?
My friend's router has 4 ports but one of them died and they have four computers. Now his computer has dual lan because of the motherboard, and so I was wondering if we could use that other ethernet port for the fourth computer?

Yes, but he'll have to do internet sharing.

you would be setting up 2 different lans. that would be more of a headache than help. you shouldn't run ICS and a router together. Have your friend just pony up a couple bucks for a small switch. I've seen them on sale for under $20 before.

I got a moto 56g router for $17. Sales go on all the time. Normally this puppy is about $80 though.

if you get another router, you'll have to disable dhcp on it. then only use the switch ports. do NOT use the WAN port to uplink to the other router.

how would a crossover help? you cannot have 2 IPs in the same range on the same computer. that's just not allowed.
if you mean to use a crossover from the wan port to the router, that ain't gonna work either. the wan side would need to have an IP from a different range than the switch ports. |

Well, theoretically your friend could just plug all the PCs in the LAN ports and bridge the two LAN connections (I think you do that by selecting both connections in the connections window and choosing "Bridge connections"). I've never tried this though, so I don't know if it'd work. Best thing to do would be to get a new switch imho...
A new D-Link switch is around $25 from egghead
