personal experience

although not in the Rolls Royce category, I've installed and been using two Thermaltake Purepower 420 & 480w power supplies and have been quite happy.

A 400w Enermax I had about a year ago lasted 3 months then died. The replacement continued to work, but the fan became loose and rattled horribly on the ball-bearing...I could never find a replacement that fit, and eventually chucked it.

And I lost a Asus A8V deluxe motherboard to a powersupply failure from a generic 350w that came from a case. I'll never use a non-branded PS again.

I turn cheaper ones into better then anything you can buy off the shelf ones.... All you have to do is get a decent one and improve it cooling wich adversly affects its performance and it lifespan

I used to have a thermaltake purepower 480 and it was good but overvoltaged all my stuff by about 5-7%... I got an antec 480 and first of all, it's 100 times more stable (no change from load to idle)

Antec one was weight heavier too

Antec is my first choice: Cost vs Price ration is great and they're pretty affordable for someone on a budget. Plus, they don't look that bad either.

I like Antec power supplies they ark up. However I have had one do some weird shite, an Antec 550W True Power, the bottom exhaust fan became twitchy. When the temp got up the fan would not speed up, actually it wouldn't come on at all regardless Blowing really hard through the back of the PSU used to get it going or giving it a flick with a piece of plastic (If nothing else it did provide some amusement for my friends at LAN parties). I accept full responsibility I should have RMA'd it as soon as I noticed this problem, rather than pulling it apart and braking the sticker that said warranty void if broken or removed But other than that I have sold many Antec computer systems and have not had any die.

I have checked my Antec 480 with a voltmeter, and it was completely solid from idle to running 3DMark and MOH:PA demo. and this is with a lot of devices connected to it! no worries with this power supply

I'm using a CHANNELWELL 430 watt, and it's not too 'shabby'. Especially if you happen to know that Channelwell MAKES the ANTEC PSUs

If you are an ANTEC fan, I'd suggest that you take a look at the high end Channelwells. They are a lot cheaper $$ wise, and have all the quality of the ANTECS.

I'm quite happy with the Aspire 520w psu bought back in December. No issues so far. It was on sale at Microcenter for 50 bucks. I was in need for a quick fix my old 550w Antec, it just wasn't cutting it when I upgraded to the Amd64. We'll see how it performs once summer gets here.

I put the Seasonic 450 in my A64....AV8 still does not want to OC....even a %5 OC for five minutes results in a BSOD..... The power supply works fine though.
