Upgrading a processor ...

Hey, it's me again, with another question. I currently have a socket 478 Intel Celeron D 330 processor @ 2.66GHz. I'm planning on purchasing a Pentium 4 3.0GHz processor of the same socket. The P4 has a Prescott core, 0.9 micron process, and Hyper-Threading. Will my motherboard/computer support this? I am particularly confused about the micron process and Hyper-Threading. I'd appreciate it if someone could explain this to me.

Micron Process - Refers to how short the distances are between things in the processor or something. Basiclly, the smaller the better.
Hyper Threading - An Intel only thing. It is kind of like having 2 processors.

Not much, but it should do for now. So, would it be compatible as long as it's the same socket? Or can motherboards only support certain speeds?

check the motherboard manual for the maximum FSB supported, then compare with the stofck FSB rating of the CPU

Yeah, just did. Guess I'm going to have to wait for my new motherboard before getting a new processor. Thanks anyway.
