Donator
Is it a PLCC chip? - Square and inside a socket? If so there will be two slots on opposing corners, these are where the extraction tool usually seats, hooking beneath the chip. If you use two flat bladed jewellers screwdrivers together, one in each slot you should be able to carefully work the chip upwards until it comes all the way out.

Yeah it's square, but I've never heard of jewellers screwdrivers before.....

Tried all of my screwdrivers, didn't work, anything else, and I'm not going to buy a chip remover.

This thing is really starting to piss me off, I think I'm gonna smash it with a hammer and pull all the little pieces out.

well you need to be sure to put the new one back in faceing the exct same way it came out...
I how you didn't damage the chip socket. Hopefully the bios you replaced it with is the exactly the correct one of it won't work and the "chip" it self has to be correct there are diffrent ones

((I use a micro (tiny) flat screwdrivers to get the out the long type require a tool to avoid
bending the pins...))

The system boots the exact way the other chip did, when it worked, [except this hangs on the bios screen] this is a chip I bought direct from ABIT, I think I'm just having a problem clearing the old memory, I cleared the CMOS already, so I'm not sure what to do now.

I think it may be that the ps/2 ports are burnt out, my optical mouse doesn't light up, and the lights that indicate numlock and other things does not turn on.

Anyone know how to fix this, or will I have to buy a usb mouse and keyboard?

I put/pulled the keyboard in and out while the computer was on, which I have heard people burning out their ps/2 ports that way, so I'm gonna pick up a ps/2 to usb cable.

Not to worry. This really isn't as big of a deal as you might think, and I don't believe this is causing the problem. However, I would try a different keyboard anyways. But, don't get a PS2 to USB converter just yet. First, they don't necessarily work with all keyboards. Secondly, if the bios isn't setup to support Legacy USB support then you won't be able to get into the bios with it. So, grab yourself another PS2 keyboard instead.

Give this a shot btw:

Unplug the power cable, pull the CMOS battery, and clear the CMOS. Hook the power cable back up (but not the CMOS battery), and power the system up while holding down the DEL key. This will force the bios to load power defaults. Do whatever changes you need, then turn off the system, and see how far you get. If Windows boots up then shut the machine down, and you can put back the CMOS battery (just don't unplug it or you'll lose the settings). Also, try keeping everything disconnected (devices, hard drives, optical drives), and any external device you don't need while your doing this just as a precausion.

I'm shocked that they didn't send you the removal tool. That's just so cheap of them.

Well technically it was free, just had to pay for shipping and handling

BTW: The mouse did work with my other comp/this comp, but I'll try a dif mouse and keyboard anyways.

I know.. but it's a normal procedure for clock defaulting in the bios. That's why I mentioned it. But, like you said, your keyboard isn't working anyways.. so, guess it was sorta pointless that I mentioned it.

Something I just noticed about that board (the board in question is the same one in your sig, right?): did they send you the chip with the right bios on it? That particular board has 2 revisions, and they explicitly state on their website that you should not use the revision 2 bios on the version 1 board. I'm just wondering if they messed up by programming the chip with the wrong bios.

The lights on the keyboard, and mouse do flash for a second, so I'm starting to shy away from the PS/2 ports being burnt out.
