Fixed the stuttering with the NForce3 + 6800 combo

This solution might have been reported here before but...

So I fixed the little annoying stuttering issue that can be found with NForce3 and 6800 graphic cards. Basically it is a driver issue which makes the gfx card throttle for about 5 seconds and then goes back to previous settings when under load and overclocked. In my case it was solved by disabling AGP fast write in the bios.

For me this wasn't a huge problem, but I've seen reports that some have major issues with it.

Disabling fast write in the bios seem to resolve the issue for many. Just thought I'd share because I've been looking for a solution for ages.

glad to hear you fixed your problem. I also think it was a great idea to post your solution here, hoping it would help someone else in need. Too many people forget to post after they've found a fix to their problem in forums

Weird I never had any stuttering /w a similar setup. Hmm but I might of had fast writes turned off though too.

necrosis: did you overclock the graphic card? At stock settings there usually is no stuttering. The throttling tries to reset the frequencies to factory settings. I've also heard of a bios update for the card that might help. Not all are experiencing this but many are.

Yes I did but there are two distinct things that were different about our setups.

1. I wasn't OC'ing my 3200 winchester because it sucked for it.

2. I had my Ultra at a fact settings, and only OC'ed it a couple of times.

BTW...Have you turned off the video card speed up thing in your bios?
