Please Help! Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe USB issue
I just got an Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard and installed it in my new system. So far everything is working wonderfully except for my USB ports. All of them (including the ones on my case) are running at USB 1 speeds instead of USB 2.0. This motherboard is supposed to support USB 2.0. I followed the directions when Installing the board.
Here are some things that might help... my system: Asus A8n-SLI Deluxe motherboard AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice core 1 gig Corsair XMS memory model: TWINX1024-3200C2PT MSI 6600GT Video SB Audigy 2ZS gamer sound 2 Seagate 80 gig SATA hard drives in a RAID 0 config Lite On 16x DVD Plextor 16x DVD-RW I am running Windows XP Pro Service pack 2, the chipset drivers that came with the motherboard and the newest Nvidia video drivers. I am also useing the Nvidia RAID drivers Does anyone have this motherboard? Has anyone had a similar problem? Can anyone help me? It is so frustrating to try to transfer files from my external hard drive when the speeds are soooo slow!

Funny you should post this solo, as I've seen this very same issue come up with that board a number of times. The issue seems to revolve around XP Service Pack 2 (which is relied upon to get the USB2.0 drivers), the onboard SATA controller, and the chipset drivers.
From what I understand you need to do this: - upate to the latest bios version. After doing so double check to make sure that USB2.0 is enabled in your bios. (1008 is the lastest 'official bios, 1011 is the latest 'beta') You can get that from HERE. - make sure you have XP Service Pack 2 installed. - reinstall the chipset drivers (you can get that HERE.) - another suggestion made was to update the SATA drivers If it doesn't work try uninstalling the USB 2.0 ports from within Device Manager, reboot, and allow the drivers to install (if needed, reinstall the chipset drivers again). Also, if you still have problems I would suggest contacting Asus directly as they are better able to help with this directly. Hope that helps. -Tip |

Well thank you for the info. I tried what you said to no avail... well actually it took me quite some time to actually try your suggestions because for some reason Asus's support page would not load so I could not download the bios update from them and also the automatic update couldn't find the update either... probably because the page was down. I finally found the update on another site.
After I updated the bios and chipset drivers I couldn't access the internet so I had to uninstall the nvidia network manager. Now I can access the network. I already tried contacting Asus support. I called them twice and they said they would call me back but never did... and on their email support you have to put in the mobo revision number... which I can't find anywhere on the board. So if anyone knows where I can find this information or has any other tips I would be much appreciative.

I just wanted to add a quick post to let everyone know that I resolved this issue. Asus got back to me and the fix was actually quite simple. I'm almost embarrased I didn't think of it myself.
So for anyone who has this problem with their Asus mobo: Go to device manager and find where your USB ports are listed. Right click on the main heading and choose update driver. Then just allow Windows to update the driver automatically. That's it. I hope this helps someone else too.

I had a similar problem on my DFI setup, but it had a USB controller driver issue under device manager. It was suggested to me to do the same thing. Hmm..must be some kind of nf4 thing.
