athlon xp3000 motherboard recommendations ??

Hi,
because of a (dead it seems) new gfx card install, I reset my Mobo to default
settings. Now I cannot get the FSB and multipliers to get my athlon xp3000 CPU to run at the proper speed. I believe it used to be running at 133x12.5/13 but since
I didnt write it down I can`t remember.

Anyway, after 1 hour of reboot and change settings, I`m bored of this crap.
Why don`t athlons just plug in and go at the proper speed with this kind of overclocking crap ?

Anyways. anyone recommend an agp motherboard that will do all this for me because otherwise I`m of a mind to ditch the whole thing and buy intel which doesn`t seem to have this incredibly stupid problem.

I`ve been told I should be able to run this mobo as fsb 166 (since it`s a 333 capable mobo) but even at default multiplier it can handle that.

So anyone know what the idiots auto configuring motherboard I need to buy is ?

cheers, higgles

ive got this problem...

My Athlon XP 2400+ had been running at 200/11.5 for 6 months straight without any problems, and now, all of a sudden, if i run it at default speeds of 133/15, and i try to run ANY intensive program, it just crashes. If i UNDERCLOCK it, it STILL crashes.

dead cpu?

Default settings for the 3000+ (as long as it isn't a 64) is 166 FSB with a 13 multiplier.

As for a motherboard, I really love my Abit NF7-S V.2, but it seems they are very hard to find. Only one I could find was at http://www.xpcgear.com/abitnf7sv20.html.

If you don't need all the OC capabilities then I have had good luck with the Abit NF-7 S2 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813127185.

The Abit KV7 is a good board, I'm more than happy with mine.

Well my 3000+ and Epox 8RDA+ Pro is a stable combination, and I can't really complain. It's quite an old board, but board with integrated display capabilies should still be available. Such as the Epox 8RDA3+.
