Hard Drive Failure?

FYI this is not the PC in my sig. It is my other pc.
AMD Athlon 3000
1 GB PC2700 Ram
80GB Western Digital 7200RPm 2MBCache
PCChips 848 Motherboard
SoundBlaster live 5.1

Anyway yesterday morning I get up and try to check my email. Internet not working so I say screw it and go to work. Come home still not working so I try my other PC and it works fine. I reboot and windows wont load. It just goes to a black screen after the XP logo and the loading bar. I Try safe mode and no go. It just stops wjile it says its laoding the drivers. I sayt ok I will just reformat. Boot from XP disk and it starts loading whatever it has to and just sits and executing windows. I cant even get to being able to reformat or delete the partion. I have had memtest running overnight 17 passes and 0 errors so I know Memory is good. PSU is good I think its an Antec 550 TruePower. GFX card is a 64MB ATI 8500. Any suggestions? I htink the hard drive is actually broken but not sure.

First you should try to replug HD as a cable might be loose, If it still dont work then you might want to try a low level format on this drive. Utility to do so can be found on the hardware manufacturer website .

Am running Data Lifeguard Diagnostics as I type. The quich check came up with no errors. It is doing an expanded chech which takes 30 minutes it says. I will see what happens after this.
