Where's the place to buy motherboards/CPUs from

I'm looking to upgrade my (slightly) ageing P3 1GHz (I want to be able to run PSX emu at full speed WITH the twirley effects, and I'm too slow for that atm). Hopefully to somewhere around an Athlon XP 1800 or above... any tips on where to go? Or should I wait for that chip people were reviewing on Slashdot a week or two back - runs at 500MHz, but beats (performance-wise) a Pentium-4 2500?

Thanks

That chip

Not sure, but I clearly remember the piece of news... very nice if its actually compatible with everything we normally run... not so if it isn't...
