interesting bios flashing...

hey,
i got myself a great asus mobo named p4pe x/te.
one day i've decided to flash the bios with the latest, and so i found some bios for p4pe x(not /te), and i flashed it through asus update utilitly. and everything works..
but later that day i saw the retail box and it said p4pe x/te, so i went back to the website downloded the /te version and it didn't worked, the asus update utility said it's not the bios info... okay i know WHY it isn't.. but i'm just curious..

how come that it allowed me to flash a x/te mobo with a x bios?

I honestly don't know, since you would think it would verify the previous bios before it would flash over it. You really should e-mail, and see what they say. They might even send you a new bios chip, so it "should not" of flashed in the first place.
