No need for nForce 3 driver in x64

I don't use the onboard sound och LAN on my motherboard (MSI K8N NEO2 Platinum)
I use a standard network card and an Audigy 2 instead.

And it seams that since I'm using that kind of setup, there seems to be no need to install any drivers for the nForce 3 chipset on Windows XP 64-bit.
The disc controllers is identified as nForce 3 controllers already and the system seems to be running OK.

Do you think that I should stop my search for updated drivers for the nForce3 chipset, since nVidia hasn't released any since september 2004?

You still need to install the chipset drivers from nvidia website....
regardles of what little XP has built in...

Also the Nforce 4 drivers may work. There are moded beta sets since
the last nvidia offical for nforce 1/2/3 you just have to find them...

Well. I've just done a fresh install of Windows x64. I used the latest ATI and Creative drivers for x64 and nothing else.
The integrated nVidia drivers where used.

I did some benchmarking with sisoft sandra (64-bit of course) and got some normal results. Also with HDTach I got fine results.

So it seems that I don't need any nForce3 drivers for WinXP 64bit...yet!

Since nVidias drivers are in BETA and is some old s**t it seems that the ones in Windows x64 works just as well.

MFG supplied chipset drivers have been needed since windows 95 and are going no
where soon. The nvidia drivers a far newer and far better then the old or partial
support the intergrated XP drivers offer (with bugs and performance issues tha have
been fixed etc since the PRE os actually being released drivers hat were included).
Things WILL NOT work optumally with out the proper drivers installed...Things THAT
ARE NOT INSTALLED in windows setup. It requires Chipset drivers.....

Do as you please but don't think you doing something correct by not loading things you
and eryone else should load.
