Ram Setup

I have 2 banks for 4 RIMMS. My ram conf. was 4 256mg Samsung PC1066 (CT9 series) total 1G

I swapped 2 256s for 2 512s to get to 1.5G. The rimms were the exact pair(also CT9s Samsung) of the 256 but double banked

The Intel board (Lexington 3 i850e chipset) supports up to 1.5M of PC1066 ram. The limit is 24 components per channel.

I first had the 512s on RIMMs 1 and 3 and the 256s on RIMMs 2 and 4 (RIMMs 1 and 2 are in bank 0 and rimms 3 and 4 are in bank 1) However when I started up I got 3 beeps, the machine was running but just a blank screen on moniter.

However when I had the 512s in rimms 1 and 2(bank 0) and 256 in rimms 3 and 4 (bank 1)..no problem. DXDiag recognizes 1536 of memory

My question is whether I am getting dual channel? Dual channel is supported by the board and bios? Are banks equal to channels? I assume not because the 512s have 16 components each versus 8 for the 256s??????????

Will attempt to use memtest this week to check............

BTW I am not very computer savy ... (BIOs is up to date)

thanks in advance for your help.
