New CPU. New Mobo

I don't know how often Zelig posts on the DriverHeaven forums, but I'm a friend of his. He recommended this place to me.
I just got a new DFI Mobo (http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...anufacture=DFI)
And an Intel Prescott P4 3 GHz CPU. I'm having this weird problem, though. If I try to load Windows, I get a BSOD. My friend told me I can't install XP while using one mobo, then switch mobos, since some kind of config info is hardcoded to the mobo you're using. So my friend told me I had to reformat to install XP with config info valid for that mobo. I tried to get into the Windows Setup by booting from CD, but as soon as the partition section came up, my PC shut itself off. I removed everything except for a stick of RAM, HD and Video Card. The PC will either shut itself off, or work properly for a few seconds, then stop responding, screen goes blank and it longer responds to me pushing the power button to shut it off manually. I cleared ym CMOS, replaced stock thermal pad with AS5 (I used isop.... whatever the word is... rubbing alcohol to remove thermal paste residue). It used to shut down at partition options screen during Windows Setup. Now it shuts down just before it normally tells me that My Primary and Secondary Master drives' SATA cannot be found. I don't think my HD are SATA since I never had to deal with it before when I had the Dell.
Does anyone have any idea what I should do? I would love to be able to use my PC again. Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

System Specs

Donator
the only thing i can think of is lowering the speed of the ram, there should be an option in the bios. Other than that, i dont really have much else to offer.

What are the complete specs of your comp (ram, hd, vid)

Ben

If I try to enter the BIOS, the screen will soon go black and the PC won't respond to on/off.

I'd say that the 350 w PSU is a bit suspect. The 9800 Pro requires a minimum of a 350W PSU to function, which leaves you with very little overhead for your other devices. You may want to see about replacing it.

Nah, I don't think it's the PSU. My old Dell PSU wasn't as good as my new one, and I could run everything I had without any power issues.
