DFI Lanparty NF2 Ultra B motherboard, is it worth it?
Currently I have a Abit KV7-V (socket a) motherboard which konked out on me. I'd like to get a better board, one more suitable for overclocking. After reading a lot of reviews, the DFI Lanparty NF2 Ultra B looks pretty tempting. I found one place that is selling them for $185.00 CAN.
Does anyone have any experience with this mobo, and if so, is it worth the price? Thanks. |

I personnally wouldnt spend 185$ on a NF2 motherboard ! It is a bit oudated and i think you should begin to look for something like a NF4 Mobo ... If you arent ready to do it just get a cheap Asus A7N8X ... they can be found for around 100$ on the market now ...

Ya, It's a lot of money. But it does come with a load of extras (frontx, pc transport, rounded cables). There's also the DFI Infinity version that is pretty much the same board minus all the extras, which would only be $120.
This system is going to have to last me quite awhile so I'd like to get the best I can. I'll look into the A7N8X though, thanks for the suggestion. |

I've owned a NF2 Ultra Infinity, it was my last motherboard until i cooked it.
It you want the absolute best overclocking NF2 board then its the one for you. It has way more memory configurations than any other NF2 board out there, as well as the 3.3Vdimm, which is a big bonus if you use UTT/BH-5. However don't expect the board to be a walk in the park. It is a very picky board. It has very serious warm boot problems with older bios'. With the 6/19 bios its a bit better, but still has problems. However once you get nice stable settings, its a very good board. |

How do you know the mobo konked out?
My KV7 has been through hell and back and it works fine. Besides the NF2 is a worse chipset than the KT600 (imo), and the NF3 was the last nVidia one for the AMD Socket A platform anyway, so NF2 is obsolete obsoleted technology

Do you know any good nf3 boards? I'm still thinking on getting the DFI infinity, if I could find it at a lower price. |

I doubt you'll find it at the KV7's price point.
Besides the KV7 would be a better overclocker if you'd unlock your chip then run it at 200 FSB/RAM 1:1 Incidentaly, what kind of ram are you running as I hear NF2 boards can be bastard picky about the kind of ram you have |

And there were no NF3 boards for socket A, NF3 were for socket 754, and 939 only. The N2 Infinity Ultra/Lanparty is the best overclocking Socket A board out there. All 3GHz+ overclocks i have seem are with this board. |

My mistake.
But for the average person, how much OC'ing can you do on air? Plus he isn't using water cooling. He's on air. |

I could do 2.65GHz on air with my 2500+ mobile, 2.75GHz on water
. However its all about the FSB with these things. on DFI-Street forums, 250+ FSB isn't rare for NF2 UI board. I could only hit 241 @ 2-2-2-11 because of my ram .

Did you change voltage from air to water?
I'm completely on air but I see really low temps on everything anyway. If this board had a 7:2:1 divider I could run my chip easily at 2500+ Mhz. I want to unlock it soon anyway. |

On air I would use up to 1.825V. On Water @ 2.75GHz (240X11.5) I used 1.9V.
