use ethernet/lan port, then you won't need drivers

Yousaif is on a distinguished road

Actel Speedtouch 330 is a DSL modem, right? If so you should be able to connect it to your PC using an ethernet port instead of USB. USB drivers for networking devices have been slow-appearing to non-existent since the release, and I wouldn't expect it to get any better.

On their site, and on all the foroms, the answer is "not yet", and anything from August to October is given as the date they claim to release them by.

The 330 is USB only, so it's not possible to use the Ethernet route.

It seems that it CAN be set up on Linux (though the fact it needs FAQ's suggests that it's not easy) so one alternative to a new modem/router (ETHERNET!!!) or waiting, may be to cook up a Linux router box out of a spare PC (needs USB, of course!).

i just bought this MODEM mate but i wont get it untill tommorow night
reasons for doing this is becure i want AMD 64 Drivers for my modem and also i will be upgradeing to AMD 64 3700+ San Diego on this Tuesday coming up

the modem is : http://www.nickknows.com/description.php?id=425
Linksys ADSL2MUE USB / Ethernet ADSL Modem
Linksys Wired ADSL Modem (1x Ethernet, 1x USB)
Works with BEFSR41 and WRT54G
Compatible with the latest ADSL standards
Supplied with 1 x Microfilter
-------------------

the modem doesnt come with AMD 64 drivers but it works in all other os`s + it has a eathernet for allways on connection so i can use it in winxp 64 ..
also this modem is ADSL2 and ++ upgradeable for future use.

and finaly i wanted to know if any of you guys this this is a good modem
me personaly have been told LinkSys are a well known good MODEM company i didnt know this untill about 1 day ago hehe its it true ?

Linksys are a fairly well known name, though I'd say that's a bit expensive for a device that ONLY provides USB/Ethernet modem capability.

http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=62676
much more exciting, and insanely cheap considering it also has a VOIP phone point
