Sweet. The DFI NF2 SLI boards were around that much when released. They'll go down slightly.

The 2 chipsets are: Northbridge Radeon Xpress 200, and Southbridge SB450. As for the audio connectors they are on a seperate "module" that you plug into the board. It's hard to tell from that picture, but there are slots on the board that allow for a module to sit between the PS2/SPDIF and the USB/IEEE ports. Take a look at THIS picture on DFIs site. In the top right you will notice the module. This module also has the front audio/mic connectors on it too.

The can probably charge that much because there is not much competition in Crossfire mobos to keep the price down.

Why two chipsets though? Every other AMD64 motherboard only has one except for the ones with onboard video since they need a northbridge to share memory from the ram. But these boards don't have onboard video, that is why i am confused.

It's only the nForce 3-4 that only use one chipset chip. ATi's Radeon Xpress and Via's K8 chipsets all use 2 chips.

Most mobos these days are nF4 though, so people get used to 1 chip designs.

hmm... I don't get why they do, since the memory controller is in the cpu, why do they need a northbridge....

Its for PCI-E...try accessing memory from the southbridge and it'd kill everything.

Sorry for the late post.

Give the article on THIS page a read, Tulca. Page 1 & 2 talks about the Northbridge, while page 3 talks about the Southbridge.

No thats forward thinking

@Neon: SATA2 doesn't make a hell of alot of difference TBH, i.e. you'd notice it IF you benchmarked it and calculated the delta etc. but realworld it makes a very small difference.

Yes I talking about no SATA2 support.

Since they went through all the trouble of doing this board the least they
should of done it slap a SATA2 controller on there, Maybe a extra USB 2.0
conteller for those who notice the USB rates arent all that good on ATI boards.
Its not all that hard and for that price they can afford to do it LOL

EDIT: You could add a SATA2 PCIe card for like $20 but it not the point
with the price of this board and the fact thier already adding SATA ports
with another chip it woud be so simpe to add SATA2
