~sidewinder~ is on a distinguished road

need info with mobo

hey guys! i have this Asus A8V-E Deluxe mobo that i bought last january which i'm still using right now. it's pretty ok except this board doesn't support dual core cpu's. but, there is a new bios v.1009 which i've just updated from. I don't know what the added features and support with this new bios version. the asus website doesn't say anything about it so i'm hoping that maybe somebody of you guys know about this..

System Specs

According to the ASUS forum on your board, the stepping of the chipset is a factor in allowing the use of dual core processors. If the version is older than A3 according to one post there, it won't and can't. The list of supported processors for your particular board there does not list any X2 processors either.

Here's a clip from the post:

Dual-core support is limited by the chipset. Early K8T890 steppings (older than A3) did not support dual-core. I'm not sure what stepping Asus used in their boards, but if they're not providing a BIOS, the chipset may be the reason.
