LCD Monitor..

I realize that LCD monitors are not top notch for gaming. At this point though I need the room on my desk. I will will get a 19" LCD monitor in replace of my 21", I really don't mind.

What I am asking is what is one that actually is good and runs well with games. I was looking at a Viewsonic and it had a 3MS response time, and excellent contrast ratio.

Does anyone have one that will run very well with games? Or reccomend one.

Thanks
Vinny C

Well, go and read some good reviews at tomshardware.com or anandtech.com. Personaly I have got a 17" Samsung with 12ms responce time and it`s great for gaming. Never LCDs are even better, so I think you will get what you want.

I also have a samsung and its 913N 19inch model with 8 ms response time and its superb for playing games and watching movies it just has okward viewing angle so you have to look at it almoast directly straight forward or the colors are darker so you have to be careful about all this spec when you are buying one ;-)

i have a hyundai L90D+ which was the cheapest 19" 8ms LCD at the time I bought it. it's great for gaming and movies, i've only noticed ghosting once when things were blowing up left and right when i was playing tfc, but never since. the color and brightness takes a week or so to get used to, but if you fiddle with your settings enough you won't notice the difference to CRT. viewing angle is the only downside i see to LCDs. if you have lots of people who need to look at the screen at the same time, only the one in the middle will see th correct colors and brightness

My benq 19" is a 12ms monitor @ 1280x1024 resolution. It's really good for gaming. I have not noticed any problems since my other 19"crt or 17"crt (no ghosting . The coloring is slightly different of course, but that's it, and the monitor has lots of different color settings and preapplied color profiles.

I was really impressed with the review of the Viewsonic VP930 that Toms Hardware did (thanks for that one MIG). A bit pricey, but well worth it. I have the VP191b which is comparible to that one, and I love it a lot. If you can still find them I'd suggest buying the VP191b, however I would also consider the VP930 too.

I have the same monitor and was amazed at how customizable everything was but let me warn you: it's a bitch to get the gamma and brightness just right. Thankfully, Hyundai have included a nifty Windows-based calibration utility which will let you tweak it right in Windows which makes it much easier.

I've never even seen any ghosting or not enough to bother me and I play allot of fast-paced games like Batttlefield 2 and do allot of Photoshop work without any issues. It's got some good stats and overall, it's a pretty dang solid LCD. If you can find it cheap, I would recommend it.

I possibly may get that one.

the Samsung 915n is great for gaming. $300.00 or so at newegg, 8ms response time, no ghosting, no flicker, very bright. I love mine, and may pick up another one for Christmas. I highly recommend it. Hell, its a samsung, cant ask for better quality.

My friend has a Sasmsung. He has never had a problem with it, to the fact he doesn't even know what Ghosting is lol. That is a good sign.

Torn between the Hyundai (which is the car I own lol) and the Samsung.

Hyundai L90D+.

My deciding factor: the Samsung 915N only displays 16.2 million colors, meaning it's a 6-bit panel. This is how Samsung is able to get the response rate down.. by sacrificing colors. The Hyundai L90D+ is an 8-bit panel, meaning it displays 16.7 million colors, yet it is still an 8ms monitor (and it doesn't sacrifice picture quality to do it either).

I got the Viewsonic VP912b 12ms response time 19inch lcd back in April, and haven't regretted getting it. It's easier on my eyes than a CRT ever was, and I don't have no problems with ghosting or dead pixels.

I compared Viewsonic to Benq, when I saw both at an Office Depot store, and was more impressed with Viewsonic than Benq.

The picture isn't as sharp as it's supposed to be and the CONVERGENCE and the color calibration is off. This program really is kind of confusind and most of the settings have little to no effect. Any suggestions would be coo.
