So i got my pc running... except
as you guys know i built my pc and had a bit of trouble with the pin connectors, thats all done with (i think lol)... i started up my pc for the first time everything seemed ok except..... it didn't detect my harddrive, i tried everything i could think of, changing the sata connectors around, changing the jumpers etc... then i finally got to one setup with the jumpers where when i loaded it, it detected my hd.....(5-6 on the jumpers)
then after that i went into my bios and set up the boot order to first my cd rom driver, then hd. after that i put the windows xp cd in and restarted, everything was going perfect untill i got to the end.... it said i didn't have a hard drive? i was like WTF!!!!!!!!! so after about an hour or two or me screwing around, i decided to ask you guys. plesae any help at all, heres my hard drive: http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16822135106 my psu: http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16817103931 and my mobo http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16813131541 |

You want the file that's under the drivers section...usually like WIN_2k or WIN_XP and then there should be an inf file, and a dll file with the same name

im a bit confused of what to use off my motherboard disc, alot of files came with, like 500mb worth of files. it has four folders.... bin, drivers, manual, software... i'm guessing in drivers, but in tehre it breaks downinto more: 4in1, audio, amd, lan, promise, usb2 and viaraid

don't understand why xp needs a floppy drive, I haven't used one in years anyway, hope you got it sorted. sometimes you don't need drivers, you just have to disable raid0 function in the bios just btw. |

That won't fix it....that'll just break any RAID arrays that are there, the controller itself needs the same driver I believe. VIA chipsets are like that

GRRRRRRrany ideas at all guys? i could try again with the drivers i guess butttttttt idk |

If you look in the zip file and sort by Folder name I believe there is a directory that says "FLoppy setup" or something similar, that folder is what you need on the disk

The end with the twist is the one you want to reverse, it should be connected to the drive itself

ok i got a bit farther this time, my floppy drive actually works this time but when it asked for the drivers it was loading them etcetc it told me to select which one and i chose for xp then it said it had an unexpected error with like oemdisk.c or something? i tried like 10 different floppys with different drivers (the via chipset ones, hd ones, asus ones etc)

Maybe the drive is too old? Floppy drives tend to die when used very infrequently I find

Keep fiddling till you find the right drivers.
Or find a friend whose actually done this before, or phone the tech support for your mobo I mean hey part of what you pay for is for them to have to figure this crap out. The driver on the floppy that came with the mobo has to work or they did something wrong |
