ASUS A8R MVP SATA what mode ?

ASUS A8R MVP SATA what mode ? At this point you going huh?
Well in the bios under sata where you can enable and disable
there is an option menu

Emulated PATA mode (is the default)
AHCI Mode

What is this? My guess it emulates "parellel ATA"
Which mode should I use?
have any effect on the performance or setup?

I will be installing it as my main drive, fresh install of windows style....
I know about the loading the driver during setup so save you time

I'm installing a SATA 2 drive NCQ if it helps....

AHCI is just a bunch of features for SATA. Some people call it 'fakeraid', although it is not a RAID system. Basically it is there to support hotplug and command queueing for SATA drives. If you enable RAID, AHCI is also instantly enabled.

There is no harm to be done by enabling it. Actually it is the mode with SATA drives are designed for. The Paraller ATA mode is merely adapting the SATA drive to a PATA mode.
