World Of Warcraft fan Erik Estavillo is suing Activision Blizzard because he claims that the company "continues to maintain a harmful virtual environment to many of its customers by forcing them to follow [World of Warcraft's] sneaky and deceitful practices".
When we look at his case he says that Walking is one of the key issues as he feels it takes too long to get from one point to another in the game world. The only way you can speed up is through extended play or by purchasing an expansion pack which he is saying is "deceitful".
Estavillo has a plethora of health issues such as OCD, depression, agoraphobia and Crohn's Disease and he says he is at risk of sharing the fate of an Everquest Player called Shawn Woolley who killed himself in 2001.
To lend some weight to his case he has subpoenaed Winona Ryder (who would be able to "explain the significance of alienation in Catcher in the Rye") as well as Martin Lee Gore of Depeche Mode ("he himself has been known to be sad, lonely and alienated as can be seen in the songs he writes").
We fail to see how he could be successful in court, however stranger things have happened.
