bfg 6800gt problem

I was playing a game on my pc with the side off to help keep it cooler my card runs hot.Anyhow my nephew pulled the plug from my video card,and it made a high pitch noise nad my pc shut down.I replugged the card then my pc would`nt come back on,so i pulled the card and put an old card in to make sure it was`nt a pc problem.Sure enough it came on,so now i wonder if my card is fried.If anyone could help or have any idea what the problem is i would be very thankful.
