Problem with my evga 7800 GT CO
Hi.
Recently, last week or two, my video card has started to act up again. The problem is while playing Guild Wars the game will slow down and then either freeze right away and then show loads of messed up textures and other such things or it will slow down a bit and then have these errors. Sometimes when I try and quit out of the program my screen goes black, then appears to lose signal. It then comes back and windows will be in 256 colours (or lower maybe) and I'll get an error saying something about the nv4_disp.dll not functioning properly, or something to this effect (this has only really happened today). I tried installing a bunch of driver sets, 91.28, 81.95, 84.21 (I was orignally on the 91.33 betas) I also tried the most recent dh zeropoint drivers, none of which fix the problem. This problem had happened to me once in the past while playing Need For Speed: Most Wanted, however it wouldn't happen in Guild Wars or other games. At the time I figured it was my hard drive because NFS was on a different drive that had been giving me errors at the time. I have since replaced my hard drive, and I had no problems for 3-4 months, then all of a sudden it came back. I contacted evga and told them about this, and that I had also run asus probe to check my voltages, and the 12v rail would go between 12.10 and 12.16 . They told me to used speedfan to check voltages (real helpful ). I have been doing this for the past week, and 90% of the time or more it hovers at 12.10 and 12.16. Occasionally it will drop to 12.03 or jump to 12.26, but no significant drops. My system is as follows: AMD 64 3700+ s939 ASUS A8N-SLI Premium evga 7800 GT CO 1 Gig ram (2 512 sticks OCZ pc3200 plat. rev. 2) OCZ Powersteam 520 watts (OCZ-520ADJ) SLI ready *I have not overclocked anything Also the video card doesn't appear to be over heating, it goes up to 60-65 celcius. Another thing, while playing games you can hear a sort of buzzing sound from the video card. I ran video card stability test and the noise gets really loud, and I don't think it is the fan. And none of the others pcs in my house have a pci express slot, nor do I have any other pci express cards. Last edited by orion_star; Jul 23, 2006 at 07:24 PM. |

I just downloaded and ran 3dmark 06 and about 20 seconds into the battle of proxycon one (the first first test) artifacts started appearing, followed by a BSOD and reboot.
I ran it a second time and the artifacts start to appear around 43 seconds.

RMA it through EVGA if the problem doesnt go away. If you can get cross shipping it will go much smoother (they send you one then you send yours back).
