I can hardly see anything in 3d gaming
I recently picked up a XFX 6800XT gddr3 with 256MB memory and this is the first Nvidia video card that I have owned. I'm using the driver that came with the card and I can't find any way to adjust the brightness levels in 3d games. I've tried all the settings in the Nvidia control panel and nothing works. The game that I'm having the most problems with at the moment is Need For Speed Underground 2. Just way too dark.Does anyone know if the adjustment is in the Nvidia control panel or would I have to use another program? I am using RivaTuner also, but I have been unable to adjust gaming brightness with it either. Any help?

--------------edit--------------
you say you picked up a 6800 ? second hand ? new ? second hand may make all of what i wrote below a complete waist of time i will let you work out why ![]() ----------------------------------------------------- try the newest drivers .... have you tryed reinstalling nfsu2 ,reinstalling latest direct x , patched nfsu2 ? have you tryed the gamma correction ?(desktop/all) in colour correction ? ...... is your monitor using the correct drivers ? and the monitor the brightness and contrast are full up ? when you go into 3d mode ? do you have the latest motherboard bios , chipset drivers ect installed i dont have a nvidia card in my system any more but ive used nvidia cards for many years and have never had this problem with d3d only with open gl .... quake for example the last set i used was 90.xx ? they were a little dark according to others also i take it from your post you had an ati card before ? or any other (below applys ) did you remove the drivers completly ? with driver cleaner ? not just an uninstallation of the ati cats...... might want to try removing nvdrivers and ati ? drivers with drivercleaner and reinstall new nv drivers (AND then DirectX ?) i changed from a xfx 6600gt 256ddr3 to an iceq3 x1900xt 512mb and ive had all sorts of wierd problems and i used drivercleaner the only thing left for me to do now is reinstall XP,which is what you should do if you are changing graphics card manufacturers according to what ive read here although my problems are not that serious so i can live with them for a while |

Can't you just adjust the brightness in the game settings?

kn00tcn,fobis, crunchyfrog, thank you for your replies. Yes, windows or desktop was just fine. I'm not using the latest driver for my 6800xt because I didn't like it and it was quite alot larger filesize wise.Any games that I play that have brightness settings within the game are fine. NFSU 2 doesn't have an in-game brightness setting, so I finally just set up some hotkeys for brightness and contrast and then when I exit the game I just have to turn them back down. I was previously using a ATI 9700 and in the control panel they had individual settings for desktop and full screen 3d which worked just fine. I did use Drivercleaner when changing over to the 6800xt and everything else works just fine. Thanks again!
