Leadtek A400 GT (6800) Fan dying (6 mo old)

Has anyone had any experience with the fan on these suckers dying? It seems to be wobbly and off kilter so its scraping the heatsink and making loud noises. Is there replacement fans I can buy? Or does anyone know how to get off the plastic shroud and fan?

Looks like this:

no hits? Does anyone know if I remove the cover and fan, and bought one of those coolers that blow air on the card from outside of the case, would it kool it enough?

Here is another pic:

welcome to DH! . sorry for the late reply, but hey, better late than never right?

the best one to get for the 6800GT is the NV Silencer. it's what i had on my 6800GT when i had it, and now i have the ATI version for my x800xt pe . It's what i, and alot of others recommend for that card

also, since the card is only 6 months old, i'm sure it's still under warranty as most companies have at least a 1yr. warranty on their products.

Thanks!! True better late then never!

The card is still under warranty, except the problem is I cant find my receipt to show proof of purchase. Leatek offered to RMA if I have proof of purchase.

I figured if I couldnt find it, maybe I could replace it with something.

sucks you can't find your receipt. but hey, at least you now know of an alternative instead of being w/o a gfx card for 4-6 weeks

yup . the way the cooler was designed, it was designed to blow any warm system air outside the case, and it's design also picks up heat more effectively than the stock cooler.

i remember that when i first got it for my old 6800GT, my core temps went down from 65C to 55C idle and from 85C to 75C under load. My system's ambient temps also went dropped about 5C as well .
