what to do? (2) 7900 or (1)7950
Hello I have a few questions for you guys. Right now my system goes as follows:
windows XP X64 edition AMD athlon 64 3700+ (1) evga 7900 gt ko Superclocked 2X1 gig kingston hyper X ram WD 160 Gig HD DFI lanparty UT SLI Expert Antec Truepower 2.0 550 watt Ok well I need to know whether I should just go with buying another 7900 gt ko superclocked or if I should get a 7900 GTX or just get the 7950 GX2. I here that the gx2 is having driver problems or something and they dont have drivers out for the x64 edition windows for the gx2. I like my 7900 GT KO Superclocked but I am looking to upgrade to either SLI of the 7900 or get the 7950. I dont run my games above 1280 X 1024. I see in your review on here that the 7950 mainly prevails at resolutions as high as 1920 or something like that. I just was wondering if the 7950 gx2 would perform as good as 2 7900 gt ko superclocked cards. My other issue was if the 2 7900 gt ko s/c cards would be powerful enough to run the new games coming iout in the future like crysis. If you could get back to me on this I would greatly appreciate it. driverheaven rocks!!! |

I think getting another 7900GT would be the route to go for the most performance, but you have to remember that not every game supports SLI and there are still many issues with it.
And as for games like Crysis, you have to understand that DX10 will be used (which is why it looks so damn good) if your card supports it, and the GeForce 7 series can only do DX9.

ok so you are saying that the 7900 gt willl not support dx10? then what card will be able to run it? I thought that the 7 series would because it says made for vista or whatever.... I am confused about the whole dx10 thing.

Oh, the 7900GT will be able to run Vista just fine, but it won't render in DX10.

Yeah, it probably would be good to wait if you aren't an insanely hardcore gamer.

what fobis said. especially if you are counting on your 'evga trade-up' as they are no longer doing either of those cards in that program.
