Question - Is it worth the upgrade

i just got myself a GA-M59SL-SM Mobo running a AM2 X2 4200.....

Now im itchin for a new card, yet undecided if it is worth the upgrade.

I have right now a 6800GT and am looking at the GIGABYTE GV-NX76T256D-RH

In your opinion, worth the upgrade?

thanks

Here is a review of the 7600GT from summer '06. The closest comparator to your card is the 6800GS. http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2812 You should see a 20-50% increase in framerates in newer games. I would say its worth it, and you get a free game (Civ IV) worth $50

Thank you for the reply..... That 7900GT looks good laso..yet this new rig i just slapped together put me back some. Plus theaction pack I bought from MS and vista due with first January edition, im well, kinda tapped out.....

Yet unless someone can convince me that an upgrade isnt worth it..... or that the 7600 isnt worth it either, id love to hear your thoughts....

Im ready to press the checkout at Newegg.....so speak your mind quickly.........my finger stopabilty is running low....LOL

How about this one..The GIGABYTE 7900GS http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125045

not much more..... And it looks like it out performs the 7900GT from some reviews I looked at.

Opinions anyone....

I have a 7900 GT with VF700 and it's great. The 7900 GS would be a nice step up from your 6800 GT.
The GT overclocks pretty nicely but not sure about the GS. I also have the VF700 and it took >5 deg off idle temperature. If you can afford the extra $$ the 7900 GS will be a much better upgrade than the 7600. The one you linked to has the zalman cooler ($32 from Newegg shipped if bought seperately) and is a good choice if you wanted a nice cooler anyway. Also, it has the higher clock speed (525 MHz)

Yeah, I'd say the 7900GS is probably a better idea than the 7600GT, upgrading from a 6800GT.
