6800GT having display troubles

Hey there,
Out of the blue I was playing some Day of Defeat Source and then my screen went all different colours and froze. I was forced to restart the computer and then the bios screen had some white lines coming down. As soon as I get to my login screen the screen freezes and I have to restart again.
I have entered safe mode and downloaded the latetest drivers and everything seems to work fine, but as soon as I enter a game it freezes up and the screen goes all screwy again.
I find this awkward since it just happened.
Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I also did a restore point to an earlier time but it still does the same thing!!

Have you made any software or hardware changes recently?
Is the fan working on the GPU?
Is the card running hot?

What is the manufacturer of your card? I had a 9800 XT do the same thing to me, turned out one of the pipes had failed. Asus honored their warranty and I ended up with an x800 pro.

If the card is not overheating, then I'd start contacting them.

Havent made any hardware changes, a new software program that I have now removed.
The GPU fan is working and is running around 57degrees celsius, during a game before it seems to crap out its around 64degrees celsius, which has always been normal for it.

its a Gigabyte 6800GT.
I have also had multiple programs runnings, tons of videos playing at once and it doesnt seem to make a difference.

*Okay so when I finished typing the above paragraph, as soon as I clicked on "post reply" my monitor lost input to the computer, I had to restart and go through SAFE MODE.*

what GSXR said. Basically it needs to be sent back to the manufacturer of the card's company for warranty service. Usually when this happens, they just replace the card. Contact the manufacturer of the card, and they'll get you started on that whole process.

Hey there,
well it defintley was the video card causing all my troubles.
I swapped with a friends 6600GT and it all worked fine, so I went out and picked up a 7600GT on sale. I'm going to try to return my old card or something along those lines.

Thanks for all the input, now I have a little beefier card!!
