I NEED ANSWERS!!! see if you know this-- A2 or A3 core?
Ok, I RMA'd an XFX ti4200 that had an A3 core (it OC'd to 315mhz easy)- now they don't have that card anymore so they are going to offer me something else or my money back.
I got a loaner from them until I get that back- it is a ti4200 8x agp (which they ALL are now) BUT---- it has an A2 core that SUCKS at oc'ing- wont even run 280 stable- 275 is pushing it on this thing! I looked at the chip itself and it says geforce 4 ti 4200 8x A2 Here is the question, do they make a ti4200 8x with an A3 core or not? Or are all the new ti4200 8x A2 cores? If so, the only thing to accept from then (newegg) is a 4400, which I know will have an A3 core-- Or maybe an Albatron 4200 P turbo- I think that still has the A3 core. If anyone knows- please tell me- or if you know if there have been any reviews of any 4200 8x cards that might say-- OR- if you know of any manufacturers that might say....

I'd say, go for the 4400 (or 4800SE, ift it's with 8xAGP) at any rate!
Not only the core is 275MHz instead of 250, but also the memory is generally at 275 instead of the 250 of the 4200 as well. If you can, go for the Gainward 4800SE card, it has fast 3.3ns memory which allows for some purty OCing

Maybe I will just refuse anything they give me, get my money back, and but a 4800se or 4400- (both same really) I don't care about 8x AGP as it does nothing for those cards anyway. The Albatron is the same thing but cheaper- I will prolly get that one- I have a Gainward 4200 128mb (3.6ns ram) 8x and it blows, so I am kinda wondering aboyt gainward-- I probably wouldn't have any problems with the 4400 or 4800se cards though.

Ok, here is a question- Which is faster (including the average overclockability) a ti 4400(or 4800se) or a or a 9500 pro?

I am thinking it is an A2-- It isn't marketed as an Overclocking card- Like the XFX was and is.
