CHEEP DX 10 card???

Whats the least expensive series of nVidia cards that will do DX 10?

I wanna get something for my kids rig that wont set me back a fortune.....The thing has onboard GFX and it wont even run old games without looking choppy....I tried Call of Duty2 on the lowest settings....still choppy and RIVA tuner wouldnt work.I thought it may run older games.It's got 256MB of borrowed memory.

Your only two options is the 8600 or the 8500.

8500 and lower.. all crap. So, don't go any lower than the 8600GT. The 8600GTS being the better of the 2. If you can afford it, though, go for the lower end 8800GTS instead (320mb version, 620mb version being the best bang for the buck card), which is usually $50 - 100 more.

Well.. at the price point, yeah, your only option is an 8500GT, however, it should be noted that the card, overall, is slower than a 6600GT... by a big margin in most cases. There's 2 versions of the card: 256mb and 512mb. The difference is that the 512mb is slightly faster in games that require large textures, however not by much as it's still limited to 128bit memory bus speed, so it may not be worth paying the extra money for 512mb card.

Budget DX10 may be equivalent to no DX10, in much the same kind of example as nvidia FX5200 (slow DX9) versus Nvidia Geforce 4 Ti (fast DX8).

Maybe get the best DX9 card in your price range, and forget about DX10, if your price range does not reach worthy DX10 solutions.

I think its the 8400? But I dont think anything under an 8600GTS will cope with DX10 much, from the current DX10 games it dont look like any DX10 cards so far are any good for DX10
