Are original drivers needed to use Omega driver?

I recently installed a new graphics card, and have encountered problems installing the drivers for it that came on the CD with it. Are the Omega drivers viable substitutes for the main nvidia drivers, or do I need to have the nvidia drivers installed in order for Omega to work?

Hi there and welcome to DriverHeaven!

Omega drivers are modified drivers so you don't need the official driver from nVidia. So all you need to do is to download them and install.

Ive installed the omega drivers using the setup that I downloaded, but now when I restart my computer, I am asked to install the hardware (Nvidia GeForce 7600 GS). I continue with the installation, and it asks for the path to a file, which I found by searching my computer, and then it asks for the path for nvsvc32.exe, which I found in the Omega folder, but now it says that "setup cannot copy the file nvapi.dll and to enter the path for the file, or enter the Nvidia windows 2000/xp driver installation disk 1??
Also I have searched my computer for the file nvapi.dll, and it found the file in c:\windows\lastgood\system32, but when I use this path and continue the setup, nothing happens for a minute or so and then the screen goes blank, and goes onto a black screen with a flashing underscore in the top left corner of the screen. Please help

Omega drivers are very old for nVidia cards. Last was released 04/06/2005.

Omega drivers for nVidia have been discontinued a long time ago.
You should download the driver from nVidia website and install those.
