"Display driver has stopped working and has succesfully recovered"

What is happenning is that every single time I run a fullscreen movie or game like wow, it pops up the error-message. But in some games, like css, no errors, only excessive tearing and artifacts. It takes about 30 seconds for the error to appear in the games which provoke this. This error appears again and againg until the computer goes bsod and shows either: ~nvdlddmkm(Can't remember exactly) or STOP: 0x00000116. The period before the error appears, the screen goes black. There are artifacts from frame one as I turn my computer on, in the shape of pixel-sized dots. In every game there are artifacts and tearing, and even on the desktop. I have Vista ultimate installed, and all the drivers are up to date. Previously had XPMC, which was where these artifacts started appearing. Earlier it has only been occasionally that the blue-screen would appear, but I have always had some artifacts still. But at the time when I had XPMC, when I got those nasty artifacts in-game, I would only need to tab down and up the game, and it would work perfectly. No overclock, and a chilly cabinet. It has been a while since I last formatted it, and I could perfectly well buy a new graphics card, which was proposed in the norwegian forums I attend to, but I would like to sort this out, so I can get back to my movies and games asap.
My computer:
Asus a8n32-sli
AMD 3200+
1x Evga 7900 gto
Geil 2x512mb ram

(I might be double posting, but I only found this problem at the ati corner when searching)

Regards

are you OCing that card with Rivatuner? sometimes new drivers or unsupported ones do this.

or the card could be unstable or dying..... do you clean it regularly?

kmonica is an unknown quantity at this point

Had that problem too. Normally when I restarted the computer the problem went away. Seems like a graphics driver issue.

Yep, only happens to me in Hellgate: London, everything else is fine, seems to be a driver issue of some sort.
