really is it that good....

is the eVGA Geforce 9600GT that good. i am selling my FireGL v5000 (which is still for sale) to get money for a video card. I will have around $200. so should i go with a 9600GT or some 8600 or 8800. i really dont want to go ATI but the 3870 looks good too.

9600GT is equivalent to an ATi 3870 without all the AA issues. go for it.

If I were going SLI i'd nab the 9600, non SLI nab the XFX 8800GT, their freakin awesome. I can push 400FPS in lightsmark with out extra cooling or the bios volt mod. 450 FPS with extra cooling and the easy volt mod.

why is that? never had bad experience with it or is it something special about EVGA?
I never can decide on the "sub"-brand as I never quite understand the little differences. I notice some got a different cooler or just another sticker on the cooler but is there more to it?

Generally, the only constant trend is the warranty and support.

As for the product, it varies from each individual model. Some of them are higher clocked than others, on core or memory. You'd have to compare each individual one.

I bought an eVGA for the warranty and support. I didn't even buy the superclocked version though, as from what I can tell, they're the exact same card, just set to different default rates. eVGA makes no guarantee my card will work at the higher rates...but they also will replace it for me w/o much grief if I even try to run it at a higher clock as well. Frankly though, the minimal boost in speed isn't worth it to me to sacrifice stability...but everyone has different priorities.

only at high resolutions such as 1920x1080 or higher. anything else, and the 8800GTS 512MB is just as fast, if not faster.
