9800 GT problems
Hello everyone
![]() I have a similar problem. Basically I can't enjoy 3d games anymore. Been messing these 2 days with drivers and windows xp sp2 and sp3. ![]() Well, no success... ![]() ecs 9800gt 512 xfx nforce 750a Zalman 460w 2x 1GB ddr2 800 kingston I wish I could exchange this 9800gt for another vga, maybe a hd4850? Is that less trouble-prone? *On a side note, I couldn't boot into Ubuntu live-cd, first time this happens to me, I get busybox. Some relate this to sata or jmicron controller. In my case I dont see a blue screen, but the system freezes, sometimes with sound in loop. On SP3 I got infinite loop error at event manager. On sp2 I got another which seems to be ntune related. Is it possible to return the hardware in a case like this? Thanks

Re: 9800 GT problems
moved to own thread,
its hard to say whether or not the 4850 is less trouble prone as both sides have their issues every once in a while but the 4850 is definitely more powerful. before you go returning the card, try running drivercleaner on your system to remove the nvidia drivers and try installing again, good luck!

Re: 9800 GT problems
I'm using driver sweeper, tried removing drivers in security mode, and formated windows a couple of times too...
I tried drivers 178.13, 178.15 and the one that comes with the motherboard cd... Using now EVGAPrecision to monitor temp in-game, just played LOTR:BFME and it went 44-45 without freezing. Maybe temperature is causing freeze... I'll test more and post results later. Thanks. Last edited by iamah; Oct 13, 2008 at 02:03 PM. |
