9800GT freezing when in the control panel itself
hi
I just bought a new rig, Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4 Gigabyte EP45-UD3R Motherboard 4 GB RAM 512 MB Geforce 9800GT 550 Watt PSU Windows XP Pro Old Viewsonic E50 CRT Monitor ( Ordered for a 22 "LCD Viewsonic, 2 more weeks) Initially when i installed the graphics card they were saying power too low. So i connected the auxillary connector as well. Seemed to work fine.Well i had installed the game "Lost" . I can see the game menu, but after it loads just a black screen. No clue what the problem is. Then when i go to the contorl panel, the part where the 3d image keeps rotating it hangs for like no reason. From a glance looks like a PSU Problem but 550 Watts should be enough. Got the latest nvidia drivers installed too. The game runs for like 10 seconds on a lower 640x480 resolution. But then this too goes black screen. Its just a decent requirement game. Ive read the previous post of guys with similar probles but they all had PSU issues. Can someone help me, im stumped!!!!!!! |

Re: 9800GT freezing when in the control panel itself
Looks like it's more of a driver issue then hardware, it that's actually the case.
Uninstall your drivers, use driver cleaner, load safe mode, install, and restart. If you still can't fix it then I'm guessing the card would be defective.
