Gtx 285 ?

Whats the diff between GTX 280 and GTX 285? should i get the GTX 285 or GTX 280 Or i should wait for other GTX 200 series to be release?

The price for GTX285 for RM1150 is it worth it or better off getting 280 SLI?

Re: Gtx 285 ?

GTX 285 is the old GTX 280 but at 55nm.
This means lower temperatures and higher overclock potential. It also looks something like about 10% faster.

I don't know what RM stands for.
If you can, wait long enough to spend your money in a dx11 card by the end of 2009.
Also there is the option of the GTX295 but many users say that sandwich cards suck. Don't know why

And it consumes less power

I think Malaysian Ringgitt, the sort of cash they have in his country.

Probaly because the 7950X2 was a flop and the 9800GX2 was running pretty hot. The GTX 295 however improved a lot and is great. Go take a look at some reviews , temperatures are also nice.

I wait a little time and see the prices of the old GTX 260 (192 SP) and HD4870 going way down.

In my country for example you can get a GTX 260 216 SP for 204 euro's and a HD4870 for 170. A month ago they were resp. 280 and 230.

Re: Gtx 285 ?

285 is around 5-15% fasster then 280, so no big leap, just a small core update.

Re: Gtx 285 ?

Thanks for the info Bolletje
I believe that Nvidia will drop the prices of GTX280 and GTX295 to answer to the recent discount from ATI's side.
A person that i know has just bought GTX295 (here in Greece) and says that it kicks ass

But as recent cards i would wait for newer bug-free drivers.

Re: Gtx 285 ?

it will work..... the bandwidth is limited.. and if i recall.. the power is limited through that slot..... but the cards today are still riding the edge of pci-ex 1.0 bandwidth anyways... you'd only see a minor boost in a 2.0 slot... i wouldn't be concerned. Just make sure your PSU is up to the task
