Why Is My New EVGA GTX 285 SSC 3DMark06 Score (11,000 Points) So Low?
I have a Q6600 clocked at a stock 2.40GHz and 8.0GB of Corsair Dominator Memory clocked stock at 5-5-5-15 2T 2.20 volts 1066MHz FSB and using Microsoft Vista Ultimate SP1 64 Bit Edition.
I just upgraded from a 2x 8800GT SLI to 1x GTX 285 SSC. With my SLI 8800GT setup I was only running 4 gigs of memory and I scored a 17,000 average in 3DMark06 and with the single GTX295 setup and 8 gigs of memory I am only scoring 11,000 average. What am I doing wrong? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: Why Is My New EVGA GTX 285 SSC 3DMark06 Score (11,000 Points) So Low?
With a pair of 8800GTS (stock) SLI I was getting about 11,500. I'm suprised you got 17,000, that just doesnt sound right. No matter what overclocks I applied to the gfx cards this barely changed. After a bit tinkering I realised the processor was the bottleneck in the system, taking the processor to 3.0ghz gave me about 15,000 so i'd say the thing holding your system back is the cpu.
On a seperate note I see you are running with all of the memory slots filled, I predict an awful lot of stability problems heading your direction. 4 slots totalling 4gb is bad enough but 4 slots filled up to 8gb is asking for a world of pain. Nvidia boards really really don't like having more than 2 slots filled and Asus recently released a bios and note disabling the ability to run 4 slots at 1066mhz. It may be worth checking CPU-Z to make sure your board is not automatically restricting your system. |

I score 11k on 3dmark6 with my 9600gt
![]() Could you expand on this as Levi mentioned and also on the first pic add a thumbnail or something so we can view the whole image. That card should rock.

Ive scored 24,000 with my SLI 280's. I would think you would be close or in the 20,000's for sure.

did you reinstall windows after putting the card in? or did you just take out the old cards and put in the new card?
if you reinstalled windows, be sure that you've installed not just the display drivers, but also the motherboard chipset drivers. if you just pulled the old cards out and put this card in, be sure to uninstall the old drivers first, before installing the new display drivers. oh, and also be sure that the card does have the the auxiliary power connectors attached. |

Download http://www.entechtaiwan.com/files/direcpll.dll and overwrite the outdated version in program directory and in C:\windows\syswow64\futuremark\msc\
Also a readable screenshot would have been more useful. |

my avg score with 285gtx is 41,000 i believe you should have 20,000 also.
Your cpu score is killing you. I run 8 gig ram vista 64 no stability problems |

Excuse me, but I'm calling bullshit on your average score of 41,000 with a single GTX 285. That b.s. claim might work with those who don't know anything about computers but I know for a FACT that you aren't scoring 41,000 on 3DMarkVantage, or 3DMark06 for that matter. If you would care to prove me wrong, by all means, please do so by posting a screenshot of the benchmark results along with your CPU-Z details in the same image.P.S.- Congratulations on telling a lie in your FIRST post.

Re: Why Is My New EVGA GTX 285 SSC 3DMark06 Score (11,000 Points) So Low?
but seriously i cannot break 18,000 with SLI gtx 285's. I think i'm going to try Driver Cleaner and fresh instal video drivers. 17,968 i'll post back to see if it helped.
well...i did break 18,000 with all same settings. but +39 points isn't hardly worth getting excited about. 18,007

Re: Why Is My New EVGA GTX 285 SSC 3DMark06 Score (11,000 Points) So Low?
17,000 with a quad core and 8800GT SLI sounds about right. 11,500 is certainly very low, I'm getting almost that with vastly inferior CPU and GPU.
As for the comment that the 8GB of RAM is causing you issues, that's plausible, but nothing like the extent to which you're seeing. I'd think about checking that the cards are running at sensible temps, and perhaps running another benchmark to make sure you don't just have 3dmark06 issues.

Re: Why Is My New EVGA GTX 285 SSC 3DMark06 Score (11,000 Points) So Low?
(18,351 3dmarks- completely uninstalled, and cleaned drivers, then fresh install with minor tweaks to GPU spped) well...from what i've heard, 3dmark 06 isn't the favorable benchmark to run for SLI. there is only a small margin of difference from when i run one card, to SLI. i believe pcmark vantage is supposed to be the overall best for multi-proc/multi-gpu benching.

A fresh install will produce the best results as 11K is low for that card in your system. I have Q660 and score 18K+ with 4870X2
