8800 GTS 512 to GTX 260?

Hello.

I am using a "XFX GeForce 8800 GTS 512" and all new games(F.E.A.R. 2, HAWX, GTA 4, Warhammer DoW 2 etc.) are running at 1280 x 960 with medium and a few highs at most. Now i want to buy a "XFX GTX 260" or "Zotac GTX 260 AMP²" since they are alsmost same € with the XFX slightly cheaper AND higher rates.

Do you think i can gain a performance boost like that? Few say not without Vista(I own a "Vista Ultimate 64 Bit" but alot of my progs don't work) and i don't want to use "Vista 32 Bit".
