bfg is kinda pissing me off

Well a few weeks ago in another thread I finally nailed down that my card was defective. So I bought a 9500GT to hold me off while I RMA'd it, during the process where I short circuited the board somewhat and bought a god damn new board. BFG had my card sitting in Quebec in their warehouse, I waited. Fine, got a replacement a bit longer than expected and got an upgrade! GTX260 OC! Guess what: IT DOESN'T FIT MY CASE. Fine. So I told them that, they told their manager and he was looking into it and took down my case model even. I sent the GTX260 back they paid shipping this time, again had to call to follow up (I have to pay for the US calls by the way). Today I got my replacement.... AND ITS THE SAME GTX260 OC!!! The manager Jeff in the states, which department I don't know, actually contacted the last rep that was helping me. I am no on hold, wasting my money calling long distance with no working computer for a number of weeks. I despise my laptop.

oh I didn't complain about the upgrade, I was ready to give BFG an email myself congratulating them. I work for Bell Canada, and I know bad customer service! But why would I spend $200+ CDN on a new case, rebuild it for a video card that I will replace with the computer next year? The rep specifically requested similar dimensions and specifications. Not only do I get card that doesn't fit again, I got the SAME ONE. Its the quebec warehouse there.

Thats a shame, I've got an older coolermaster sitting around here which is a mid-tower but the hard drive bays are positioned differently and you can just about squeeze one in

that sucks dude, If I were you I would look into a cheap case that is large enough. Even though it can be a pain to transfer your hardware from one to the other, after it's done you will not regret the upgrade as the rest of your spec's seem pretty decent

I'm sure a 9800gtx or something could fit, I made the mistake when I bought the case thinking it was fulltower. When I even saw it I was like hmm its a bit smaller, then I was like oh its a lot smaller this is nice. I think video cards are far too big and costly. There are more mainstream offerings but they are stupid big, get outdated so fast. The 260 is like 1/3 my ps3 and the ps3 is less of a hassle to deal with! Those high end cards are absolute monsters, my 9700 pro was high end nice and compact and at the time pushed out some awesome performance. This 8800 is pretty damn big too, but the 260 is ridiculous, they look more stupid than the FX5800 blowdryers lol.

They are shrinking computers to laptops with decent performance now, cmon they can do that for graphics cards (that easily cost more than any part in the system) and only are useful for Crysis and GTA4

Seriously though as Chaos says, loads of cheapish decent cases that will take that card, and the differences will be well worth it, those cards are great.

I'll agree though that even some of the midrange cards (if you can call the 260 midrange...meh midrage/highend) cards are indeed getting a little large and out of hand...

well this is how I look at it, I have to end up spending money on getting a new part (this GTCX260) to fit, I spent my $30 on shipping the card. There are newer offerings, and if I want them I have to spend money when I have a warranty. The newer offerings will fit my case, cause less trouble and may be similar cost to a new case. I would get another 8800 or similar card, but BFG's warranty policy covers me on that. Why pay when warranty SHOULD cover it and they say they will take care of it repeat a mistake. But I was nice, this time I told them ship me a card then I will send you this card back. I need video on my desktop asap, I can't take this inspiron ahha. Also, I just had to quit my job (even I work a legitimate job being the p.i.m.p. of DH) due to school, no more spending!

I think you are still better off to change your case Bro the cards will not get any smaller. I have had my HD4870 measuring 9.5 inches long in this CM690 as well as my Accelero modded 9600GT that measures 10.5 inches long and stands 3 inches taller than the HD4870.

What I offered will be about 20-30 dollars shipping to allow you to keep a much better card than your 8800gts 640.

i know EVGA put out a 9800GTX+ card out there that was slightly shorter than the original 9800GTX/GTX+ cards. it also only required 1 6pin PCI-E connector instead of 2. if that's an NVIDIA reference design, and not an EVGA spin-off, then the GTX250 is probably based off of that shorter design.

and the reason why i'm saying this is because from my sources, i've been told that the GTX250 is basically a revamped 9800GTX+ card, but with different memory chips.

lol I actually don't wanna upgrade, and rebuild. In addition, I really LIKE the case thats the problem! I really appreaciate the offer though bredren.

I called BFG again, I got a rep who helped me before she was ok. She was surprised again. So she mailed another manager. The rep before was a bitch and didn't even finish setting up the RMA. Very poor customer service if you don't read your notes, and I work (until today) for Bell Canada! One of the worst in the country ahhaaha
