A Quick SLI Question.
I'm looking for a definite answer to a quick question about an SLI setup.
Back on sunday my pc went up in smoke which damaged just about every component installed which left me a little pissed off... I had to pick up a pre-built system (which i don't usually do but was left with little choice. So i have a Packard Bell pc which has a SLI Ready Mobo. This came with a GTX 260 896mb card.My vista score has maxed out at 5.9 all through the test. And everything plays extremely smooth.. But onto the main question. If i opted for a SLI setup does the second card have to be the same make.. As i have a 9800GT 512mb card doing nothing at the moment. I have searched dh for this but i find it a little odd when i need to know something it can't be found. Even if it's possible to set the 9800 GT as the Physx card is this ok ? Re: A Quick SLI Question.
you can you the 9800GT for PhysX thats it
If you go SLI then any other GTX 260 896mb card will work. The reason behind same vendor is that the cards are usually clocked the same |

Re: A Quick SLI Question.
Is their any advantage of setting the 9800Gt as the PhsyX card... Im torn between 2 options.
A) PhsyX or B) Ebay the 9800GT.. as the GTX 260 appears to handle all games pretty well.? |

Re: A Quick SLI Question.
my best suggestion would be to play a PhysX game like Mirrors Edge with and without then decide

Re: A Quick SLI Question.
Sorry to hear about the system Bro and on PhysX for games like Mirror's Edge try it out as Chaos said. I still really haven't had the time to play much with it but is very different with the 4870 and 9600GT using PhysX.
(Using the 9800 for dedicated PhysX would greatly accelerate this)

Re: A Quick SLI Question.
Agreed on that post by Chaos as well so for me it is down too ... is using that 9800 for dedicated PhysX going to be worth keeping it?
Try it out and your call Mig.

Re: A Quick SLI Question.
PhysX in Mirror's Edge looks great. However currently it really is the only decent game that supports it. Hopefully in the future more games will though.

Re: A Quick SLI Question.
I agree Lowfat would be nice to see some more applications for PhysX. I am quite impressed with the effects on Mirror's Edge very different from anything I am used too.
